DIVERSITY

We’ve all heard that diversity is good. If any one person has a differing opinion that person is ganged up on, bullied and chastised by the inteligencia, media and other liberal types until his or her opinion falls into line.
I don’t know how many are old enough to remember the days when everyone in the neighborhood left their doors unlocked at night and when they went to work, how the children, on warm summer days, were told to go outside to play and usually only returned when darkness fell and when there were no organized sports in which to enroll your child. The playground was a sand lot down the street where the boys would play baseball or football depending on the season without the benefit of coaches and referees, uniforms, or even the appropriate sporting equipment and the rules were made up as the game progressed. I suspect some of you do. I remember when discipline entailed a belt across the behind to the point that sitting was painful. Those were the days when parents were parents and didn’t see the need to be their child’s friend. Ever wonder what happened to those days?
In those days there was no ‘diversity’. We knew what side of the tracks we lived on and who lived on the other side. The colored and white trash that had little use for work and/or education lived there as well as the Latinos.
The people with white and blue collar jobs lived on the better side and usually got along pretty well with one another. The working people sent their kids to schools that were not integrated and where a good education could be found. While at that school certain levels of decorum were upheld one way or the other and the troublemakers were dealt with by either expulsion or corporal punishment. If one’s child went to a Catholic school corporal punishment was used even more than in the public schools. If a child was sent to the principal’s office and received said punishment that child did everything he or she could to keep the news from his or her parent for fear that even more dire consequences awaited at home. There was no Attention Deficit Disorder in those days and if attention was demanded it was given by all students. If there was squirming in seats it was usually because the backside had been warmed by the teacher. What happened to those days?
Well, we now have integration in the schools and look at what it wrought. The graduation rate in most schools plummeted, a large percentage of those that do graduate are functionally illiterate and the teachers are the ones on the hot seat. That’s right, teachers are blamed for not educating our children and the hands of the administration have been tied so that they are unable to maintain order in the classroom. In instances when a teacher walks into the classroom he or she walks into pandemonium and is lucky to get through the class without being ridiculed, disgraced or assaulted.
The inmates are in charge of the asylum. The girls dress and act like sluts and the boys have their pants half way down their butts. I don’t think that parents ever did participate in school affairs very much in days gone by but the parents would take the side of the teacher over that of the child almost every time. Parents knew that children were liars and cheats and would do those things to keep from getting a seat warming. Things sure have changed. Who do we have to thank for this? Read on.
When we went to work we worked hard and got paid equitably. There were unions but most of us didn’t belong to them and didn’t seem to need them. We were responsible for ourselves and our jobs and acted that way. The boss could hire who he wanted without checking with the government first. If he wanted an all white crew he could hire an all white crew. Conversely, if he wanted a mixed race crew he could do that also. During those days I usually found that the boss had a tendency to hire people who liked to show up on time, give a full day of work and was grateful for the paycheck at the end of the week. If he found someone slacking off he could fire that person without repercussion by any form of government.
What is it like now? Well, if the boss wants to hire someone nowadays he has to check to see how many of what race he already has on the payroll. Has his quota of white to black and latino been fulfilled? If he has an employee that continually shows up late and does a sloppy or inadequate job he has to document that behavior ad-nausea and give warning after warning before he can divest himself of that employee, especially if that employee falls within some protected minority status. He has to absorb the loss while all this is going on.
And how many protected minorities are there? Well, let’s see. Blacks are protected, women are too. Latinos can scream discrimination as well as homosexuals and men who like to dress in women’s clothing. It seems that if one looks hard enough one can claim to be a protected minority, unless, of course, one is a white male. There is, however, a way around this. All one has to do is cripple oneself and whalaah, minority status.
While all this protection sounds good to the practicing liberal those of us with a little age under our belts understand that what is really being protected is laziness, stupidity and ineptitude. You know like congressmen. Oops, I mean congresspersons. I secretly believe that the protection is there to protect those that were so lazy as to not finish school or learn while they were there.
